FAQ’s

The brain exposed Q) Are Sleep Recovery Centers the same as sleep study facilities?

A)  No. Sleep study facilities (labs) are diagnostic only clinics that test for sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, etc. A client usually sleeps overnight and is given a report in several days letting them know whether or not they have apnea.

What we do is different. We believe that the human brain is so self-intelligent, that given the right brainwave training and feedback, it will move toward and maintain its own level of optimal balance, no matter what the clients’ symptoms are. And in many cases, a person’s snoring is reduced or eliminated simply by achieving this balance. This is what makes Sleep Recovery Training so different than most other approaches.  We have, however, frequently referred people to medical sleep labs when necessary and in many cases, when a clients’ sleep apnea test comes back negative, these same labs will refer people back to us for Sleep Recovery Training.

(If you are a Sleep Medicine Lab, free free to contact us regarding our referral exchange programs).

Q) How many sessions does it take for me to start sleeping better?

A)  Although everyones neurology is a little different, most people notice a definite improvement in the quality of their sleep in about three sessions or less.

Q) Are there any side effects?

A) Virtually none. Occasionally, some clients will experience a mild agitation at the beginning stages of training that usually corrects itself within the first three sessions. We seem to think that this is just the brains way of initially making sense of the training.  Also, only about one out of twenty clients may experience this.

Q. Are the results lasting? How many sessions does it take to get there?

A. The average is about 5-7 sessions after the normalization of a clients sleep. We consider this to be averaging six nights out of seven of restful, restorative sleep. We are also still in contact with past clients as far back as 1994 who tell us they are continuing to sleep well.

Simply put, the human brain is a learning organ. It just loves to learn. And the only thing it loves more than learning…is learning how to operate itself more efficiently. Once your brain learns a new and better way of performing its day to day functions, including improved sleep, it will naturally want to stick with it. This is what makes Sleep Recovery training so different from being dependant upon sleep medications. Your brain really wants to sleep more soundly, it just needs the proper neurological training to do so.

However, it’s important to note that all the external stressors in life that have caused our brainwave turbulence in the first place haven’t just magically gone away. Financial stress and  family conflicts will unfortunately continue to come and go. Because of this, occasional booster sessions can be important option in keeping your brain fine tuned and feeling great.

Q. Does it work on children and teenagers?

A. Yes, absolutely.  We have trained kids as young as six years old. And it’s especially helpful for teens. As any parent knows, being an adolescent today is a challenge for both teens and parents.  Hormone changes, peer pressure and school stress can take its toll on a child’s ability to sleep properly. The good news is that Sleep Recovery Training is completely safe and effortless on their part. And usually after three sessions or so most teens, (even the most resistant ones) come to really enjoy training and will usually stop any resistance to the process altogether. We do ask however that you check in with your child’s doctor or healthcare professional and get their prior written approval for training.

Q. Can training help high school seniors prepare for taking the SAT/ACT exams?

A. The answer to this is a resounding yes! We have had phenomenal success working with this young adult population. In fact, of the international trainers surveyed, the degree of efficacy for focus, concentration and alertness after 20+ sessions showed a rate of improvement of 86.1%, with an 82.7% improvement for overall cognitive functioning.These kids are reporting back that their level of test anxiety and nervousness is greatly diminished both during and after the program. This allows them the use their mental energy reserves for the actual test taking, rather than dividing this energy battling with their  “test jitters”.

Q. So how is my progress tracked? Are there tools in the software that show my results?

A. Definitely yes. There’s even a “return map” feature that lets you see your brain actually stabilizing itself in real time.  We can also perform a base-line “snapshot” of your brainwaves just before your first session so we can compare your “before and after” progress as we go long. However, the human brain is a mysterious organ, and occasionally the statistical data and how a client is feeling don’t always sync up. That being said, the best way to pulse your results is by how much better you happen to feel over time, how much better you are sleeping and especially how your relationships are improving as you progress along in your training.

Q. Can the training help me with my memory problems?

A. It depends upon the origin of the problem.  Studies have shown a direct link between poor sleep and non-permanent, short term memory loss. One study took seven MIT grad students, (physics mathematicians) and fully deprived them of sleep for 48 hours. After two nights of no sleep, they gave them 5th grade math problems to solve and, lo and behold, all seven completely failed the assigned tasks.  These findings prove just how important good sleep is to everyone.

Although we do not diagnose, treat or cure any diseases or disorders at our centers, we do find, in many instances that better quality sleep usually means improved short-term memory.

Q. How well does training work on elderly people?

A.  Quite well, but with one caveat. We are not sure exactly why, but it seems to take the elderly brain longer to register results. What would take a fifty year old brain three sessions to start showing results can take a senior client ten. But again, some older people will notice results quicker than others.

Q. Will my insurance cover any of the cost for training?

A.  Usually not directly.  Because the Sleep Recovery Centers are not medical facilities, accepting insurance is not part of our program. Discounts are available for program packages and we also offer limited financing.*

It is our hope that each and every one of our Sleep Recovery clients will invest in their own need to sleep better. The personal and financial losses due to poor sleep and reductions in daily productivity can be very expensive in and of themselves. It brings us great joy in hearing our clients report how much more smoothly and productive their lives run now that they sleep well, and are off sleep medications.

Q. Is it Possible to “Try Out” the Program?

We feel it’s important to show noticeable results for our new clients. For this reason we have created the “Four Session Trial Offer.”

Here’s how it works:

After an intial consultation*  (which includes 1 session) and the client chooses to be part of the Sleep Recovery Program, we will provide the next three training sessions on a pro-rated basis. This means that we will run your credit or debit card as a hold only, until you’ve completed your “mini-trial” of four sessions. After the trial is finished we will evaluate your progress with you, and if you decide that you are in fact moving in the direction of sleeping better and feeling less anxiety, than you can choose to proceed with the remainder of your training package. However, if for any reason you’ve noticed no change in the quality of your sleep or anxiety, we will not charge your card and you will owe us nothing for those three sessions.  No questions asked.

Making the right choice is a simple one. We want you to be comfortable and confident in your decision in allowing us to help you sleep better.  87-90% of our Sleep Recovery clients experience a significant change for the better both in the quantity and quality of their nightly sleep. They’re more productive, less stressed and they are feeling better about their lives. And unlike sleep medications, the results are lasting. Because of this, our four session trial protects us as well as you. Our reputation for providing quality sleep care is just as important to us as seeing you and your loved ones achieve better sleep.

* Intial consultation fee is $ 195.00 non-refundable.

Q. Do you offer gift certificates?

A.  Yes. Everyone knows someone or has family members that are having difficulty sleeping these days.  Many times we hear that a Sleep Recovery Gift Card was  the most precious gift they can remember. You can be confident that your gift recipient will be cared for and assisted with the best we have to offer.

Certificates are fully transferable to anyone 18 years or older. (Minors need written parental and primary doctor’s approval).

Q. Can you tell me about your free booster session program?

A.  As stated above, a number of things can throw off our sleep quality. Internal and external stressors, a family crisis, accidents and even continual financial stress can create re-disturbances in our ability to rest properly. Given enough Sleep Recovery Training, (on average about fifteen to twenty sessions) the brain seems to eventually return to its new, proper sleep patterns established by the training.  However, this can take time, which can lead to loss of productivity and temporary fatigue. Fortunately, Sleep Recovery booster sessions can re-normalize the brains ability to get restful sleep again in a fraction of that time. What would take a client one or two weeks to re-normalize sleep (on their own, after the program) can happen in as little as one or two booster sessions of training.

Our free booster session program works like this:

For every new client you refer who completes a least 15 sessions, you will receive a gift certificate worth two free booster sessions. These free sessions never expire, and are “re-giftable”, meaning you can let anyone use them if you choose. This way you never have to pay for booster sessions and can also share the gift of good sleep with the family, friends and co-workers you care for.

It’s also important to note that booster sessions have also shown to be quite effective for clients prior to:

* Taking any type of exams or tests.
* Sporting and musical performances.
* Important meetings
* Making public speeches.
* All activities requiring increases in concentration and focus.

Q. Is Sleep Recovery training a cure for Sleep Apnea or Major Depression?

A. Certainly not. Both sleep apnea and major depression are serious medical conditions that require immediate medical intervention. In our initial client evaluation, we screen (but do not diagnose) for the possibility of these or other medical conditions.  If the possibility that the above conditions may be present, we will not start client training until the appropriate medical diagnosis and treatments have been established and written doctor’s clearance for training is provided.

However, it is important to note that once a client is medically treated by the proper healthcare professionals, Sleep Recovery can be an effective supplement for these clients.

Q. Even though I’m on anti-depressants and or anti-anxiety medication, I still have trouble sleeping. Can training still help?

A. Definitely yes. Difficulty sleeping can be a common side effect for many of these types of medications. A significant number of our Sleep Recovery clients have improved the quality of their sleep without having to stop or even reduce the anti-depressant medication they’re taking.  But again, any changes in your daily medication dosage must be handled by your doctor or primary care provider.

Q. What other benefits happen with Sleep Recovery Training?

A.  Upon initially testing our equipment on friends and family, the first thing we observed was of course the normalization of sleep. The success rate for improved sleep quality was, and is still sustaining itself at about 87-90%%.

Interestingly enough though, as the number of sessions progressed many people began to report the following;

•·        Feelings of contentment and joy in life.
•·        Being able to listen to others more intently.
•·        Dramatic increases in musical, artistic, and sports performances.
•·        Prolonged states of calmness and relaxation.
•·        Increases in one’s motivation and ability to concentrate on tasks.
•·        Feeling more aligned with, or finding a new purpose in life.

We have consistently observed people (and especially teenagers) becoming more mature and responsible as their training has progressed. They find more value in inter-personal relationships and tend to smile more. Worrying and negative preoccupation about people, places and circumstances seems to lessen. And they like to come up with rather funny names for their training such as, “my brain vacation”, “mental massage” and my personal favorite, “the happy zapper”! (With this person we gently reminded them ‘again’ there’s no electrical current entering their brain). Occasionally we have some clients who adamantly report they feel nothing at all, (like our accountant, for example) but strangely enough, they keep coming for more training and are five minutes early for every session! Sometimes family members and spouses will actually notice positive changes even before the client does.

We believe that when the human brain achieves optimal balance, we as a species tend to reset back to our default genetic programming; being naturally happy, having purpose and feeling the desire again for common unity.

Sleep Recovery Training has time and time again proven itself to be one of the best approaches in achieving this balance for people.
